MT&L is a leading provider of products and services to global prepaid markets. With humble beginnings in 1982 as a niche provider of prepaid fare cards for the BART system in San Francisco , MT &L quickly expanded to support the growth of magnetic stripe technology in the airline industry and mass transit.
In the summer of 2000, MT&L solidified its position as the preeminent U.S. manufacturer of magnetically striped stored value documents by acquiring the former Rand McNally DocuSystems division. The acquisition expanded MT&L’s product line to encompass additional stored value applications that included prepaid telephone cards, prepaid gift cards and point of sale activated packaging.
MT&L is driven by technical innovation that seeks new ways to address our client’s changing needs. As the technology became wide-ranging, our clients challenged MT&L to provide low cost, high volume magnetic stripe media for their unique applications. In response, MT&L developed new magnetic stripe application technologies that used thinner and less costly materials. As MT&L grew, so did our clients. They asked MT&L to develop and build high speed card encoding lines to support rising volume demands that were quickly exceeding the capacities of bank card personalization equipment. Today, MT&L works with clients
to develop trend setting point of sale packaging concepts that reinforce brands, generate incremental sales and improve program ROI.
A good company can be measured by its products, but MT&L believes a truly great company has the ability to provide clients with services that go beyond providing a product. MT&L is committed to helping clients meet their global business objectives. MT&L’s three card, ticketing and baggage tag manufacturing and distribution facilities – located in Nashville, Tenn., Dallas, Texas, and Belleville , N.J., – are strategically located to meet the burgeoning logistics needs of our clients.
